What is Predictive Maintenance?
Predictive maintenance uses data about an asset's condition and history to forecast failures and schedule work just before it is needed.
Inputs include vibration, temperature, oil analysis, electrical readings and past failure records. The aim is to avoid both unexpected breakdowns and unnecessary early maintenance. It requires reliable condition data, so many organisations build it on top of a mature preventive programme.
